Gitgit Waterfall Bali Tour

By now we were further north than we could comfortably have done in a single day-trip.

Candi Kuning is already well into the highlands of central Bali, and we wound through narrow lanes and small villages.

Dewa wanted to show us the waterfalls at Gitgit.

After a hike down a canyon, we were rewarded with this beautiful site.

The cascades plunge down the river below the main waterfall.

Sangeh Village Monkeys Park

Sangeh Village is famous for its monkeys and has been a well-known spot for tourists since the 1930s when Bali was still under a Dutch ruler.

It is said that there is some mystery surrounding the monkeys at Sangeh, who are believed to have sacred significance.

Over 1000 monkeys are found in this ten-acre area, believed to have supernatural qualities.

A notice board bearing "Holy Monkey Forest Sangeh" is found in the forest, suggesting that visitors to the forest should respect the animals.

Dreamland Beach of Bali

Dreamland Beach is located on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula in South Bali and therefore only a short ride from Bali's major tourism spots.

To access the beach you have to pass a gate which leads to a private Villa Park and passed the failed Pectau Graha developments.

An investor confiscated local land and intended to build several hotels, private properties and a golf course.

Somehow the government stopped the development and today there are numerous unfinished structures on all sides of the road.

Dreamland Beach is really beautiful and the azure blue water looks quite inviting, nevertheless swimming is just impossible due to the strong currents.

Eventhough Dreamland Beach was crowded at that time of the day and the stretch og beach is actually relatively short, you still got the impression that this is a totally laid back and special hangout spot for surfers and backpackers from all over the world, who happily intermingled with the locals.

Kecak Dance Torch Bali

This tour takes you to the village of Batubulan to see the famous dance Kecak (Monkey) Dance.

Performed by a group of at least 50 men who dance in a circle around a blazing torch.

This is relatively new dance that has been created from another trance dance called Sanghyang that features a male chorus that chants rhythmically.

Taken from the Hindu epic Ramayana, the dance tells the story of Prince Rama and his rescue of Princess Sita, who has been kidnapped by the evil King of Lanka.

The chorus of men, who provide the orchestral accompaniment with complex and varied chants that company their swaying movements.

The only music to accompany them are the beats of their palms hitting their chests, their thighs, or other parts of their bodies, or their claps, rhythmically accompanied by shouting and chanting. Flickering torches provide lighting and an enchanting atmosphere.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

Situated on a limestone escarpment overlooking the south bali tourist region, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park showcases the art and culture of the island of the gods amid dramatic natural backdrops and breathtaking panoramic vistas.

Visitors will find both monumental splendour and spiritual tranquility all enhanced by modern, efficient facilities and services,

whether arriving as one of thousands attending a cultural event or alone to enjoy an al fresco drink and snack while watching the sunset, the visitor will experience the wonder of Balinese culture and the hospitality of Balinese people.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) is a private cultural park on the Bukit Peninsula at the southern end of the island of Bali in Indonesia.

Bukit is a limestone plateau with Uluwatu to the west and Nusa Dua to the eastern.

It is devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, and his mount, Garuda, the mythical bird who is his companion. Currently, the statue of Vishnu is 23 m high, although the original plan was for a 146 meter gold plated Vishnu riding Garuda on top of an 11 storey entertainment complex.
